As the sun started rising over the damp, dark slopes of Blackcomb Mountain, you continued your assault on the summit. You kept looking upward, towards your ultimate goal.
You kept pushing. Kept persevering. Nothing could stop you as you climbed above the clouds.
On this mountain, you earn your vertical on a narrow, challenging, demanding, technical hiking trail. Slippery roots, jagged rocks, and even slopes so steep a chain is available for assistance, kept you on your toes.
But you did just that. You stayed on your toes. You didn’t stop moving forward and moving upward.
You took things one step at a time.
Community is what makes 29029, and community is part of what makes your achievement possible. Bonds are forged on these mountains. Friendships are made, relationships are solidified, and everybody grows together.
When you’re struggling, you can look to a friend on the mountain for help. And when it comes time to celebrate, it’s all the more sweeter with 250 new friends by your side.
A sea of red bibs layed out below the ascent board, waiting for their rightful owners to depart for their final climb.
The lengthy ascents - the longest 29029 has ever had - meant there were more red bibs on the mountain all at once than ever before.
And climb they did. Past the towering cedars, over the challenging rocks, and up the steep slopes of Whistler one last time.
Whistler is home to some ancient towering cedars. You hiked right past them, ascent after ascent.
Do you know what’s bigger than those massive trees? The accomplishment you’ve worked towards. It’s close enough that you can almost taste it.
Have you ever seen a more beautiful finish line? After 36 hours on the mountain, you get to finish on top of the world!
This is what it’s all about. All the training, all the sacrifices, all the effort, all the sweat, all the tears… it all led to this.
Now that you’re on top of the world, what will you conquer next?
