We don't negotiate with ourselves. We get off the gondola, turn right, brand the Ascent Board, and head back up the mountain. Once we start the journey, we'll never turn back.
There's beauty to be found in every moment. When your breath was labored and you were ready for the hike to be done, a moment of distraction was welcomed. It also confirmed that we are not alone.
Nothing happens in the lodge.
The clock keeps ticking when you’re in the lodge.
Nothing happens when you’re in your hotel room.
The clock keeps ticking when you’re in the hotel.
The challenge is on the mountain. Ten steps forward are ten steps closer to your goal.
The person next to you, they're family now. We are all in it together. The collective energy and the unspoken bond will give us extra strength.
There's an invisible vibration in the 29029 community and an energy that helped us get up the mountain. It's reciprocal; the energy you put out is the energy you receive. When someone needed a pat on the back and a push, you were there to offer it.
Adam Jorgensen, we applaud you. You came to Vermont with a clear goal, to complete one hike. Through perseverance and determination, you prepared your body and mind to take on the mountain. The mark on the Ascent Board is a symbol of your journey. Remember the smell of the burning wood when moments of doubt creep in. Keep moving forward, and perhaps we’ll see you tomorrow for another hike.
There's something special about Fall in New England. The changing colors, the fallen leaves, and the variable weather. The highest peak in Southern Vermont lends itself to the best of the season.
It's a metaphor for all that is true in life.
Nothing is constant, and nothing is forever.
The highest of highs we went through did not last forever, and neither did the lowest of lows. When the lows came, we stayed present and stayed in the moment.
Eventually, we reached a high point again. The collective mindset breeds an air of positive energy. We are a beacon for the good in humanity.
There are good people in this world, and there's two hundred and fifty of them right here at Stratton Mountain.
When you can breathe, you can stabilize. It's probably the most impactful thing that you can do. There's nothing more transformative than a deep breath.
The challenges we faced today, came, and went as easily as your breath comes and goes. When they come tomorrow remember to take a moment, stop, breathe, and carry on, one step, one breath at a time.
We're here for you. We get energy from you. As much as you appreciate our support. We appreciate your effort.
Support works both ways.
We'll be here through the night, for you.
It’s a unique feeling having your whole world reduced to an 8-foot circle of light. We’ve spent the last 12 hours on the same mountain, and suddenly your awareness of your surroundings changes. You become more present to your breath, more present of where your feet fall.
The intense focus provides an opportunity to silence the doubts and listen only to the positives because every moment on the mountain is a moment closer to the ultimate goal.
