When it became clear that it wasn't possible to come together in Utah, our team was determined to facilitate a meaningful virtual event, as a step towards the full 29029 experience in 2021. We wanted the weekend to be memorable and allow our participants to use the hard work and training they'd put in thus far.
One of the things that stand 29029 apart is the people. Our participants are extraordinary people. And given a choice, many of them decided to keep moving forward, take on an unknown challenge and see what you could accomplish on their terms.
To witness how they all came together, to foster the sense of community that we hold so dearly, was nothing short of outstanding. The stories that came from the Utah Virtual Event confirm that we can all do more than we think we can. This weekend proved that to me, and to every single participant who took part. Please enjoy the recap of this memorable weekend below.
Keep Climbing. - Marc Hodulich, CEO, 29029
It doesn't matter how bad it feels. It doesn't matter how uncomfortable you are. It doesn't matter how strong the winds are, how heavy the rain is. The heat? It doesn't matter. We are never going to say how bad we feel. Because once we speak that into existence, we give any negative thoughts power.
When asked how you're feeling, you have one response and one response only.
"I Feel Outstanding!"
So when every single one of you was out in the cold, the dark, all alone—fighting blisters and cravings and self-doubt. The collective voice gave us hope and the possibility to keep moving forward. And it lives in perpetuity.
I feel outstanding.
You took on roads, and trails, up hills, down hills.
Parking lots and mountain tops.
Treadmills, stair steppers.
Loops, steps, hours and feet.
There was no shortage of imagination on how to take on this challenge.
There's no greater symbol of our collective progress than the 29029 Ascent Board. It's a special moment that every participant fondly recalls. The smell of the burning wood, as you brand the board, is a memory to cherish.
Virtually, your creativity stood out! We saw many iterations to measure your weekend. Digital boards, home-made brands, whiteboards, chalkboards, you found a way.
One thing is for certain; the smell will be worth the anticipation come August 2021.
News heard from around the world.

"Two Sisters found doing laps in a parking garage...Claim they are climbing Mt. Everest!"

And finally - "Entire 29029 community is left wildly inspired by an amazing community of people who took on an incredible challenge, and adapted to uncertainty with grace."
Keep creating headlines, and we'll keep enjoying the news!
Has there been a better use of Zoom or WhatsApp in history? We doubt it!
The capacity to come together to share. To offer words of advice, inspiration, or just listen was a highlight.
We often say that the bonds forged by mutual suffering are unbreakable. It's now clear those bonds can be formed no matter the distance.
The 2021 pre-29029 reunion is going to be one for the books. The 2020 Utah Virtual crew, is tight!
There's no better feeling than a well-earned celebratory meal. The selection on the mountain is usually impressive. Not to be outdone, as expected, the Virtual Utah crew didn't disappoint.
